Hi everyone! I’m a huuuge tea fan, so much so that I even have a Pinterest board dedicated to tea. I love many different teas for many different reasons, but no matter what, green tea will always be my favorite. Not a day goes by where I don’t have at least one cup, which is great because green tea has some amazing health/beauty benefits. Here’s five of the many reasons why I’m an avid green tea drinker, and why you may want to be as well!
Drinking Green Tea Will Help Protect Your Skin From The Sun!
This is such an amazing benefit from drinking green tea! Although you should always apply sun screen to protect yourself from the sun as much as possible, drinking green tea can help you become more resistant to sun damage! This is due to a catechin in green tea called Epigallocatechin Gallate, or EGCG. If you’re interested in this topic, you can read more about it here!
Green Tea May Help You Achieve Clear Skin!
I attribute a few things to my generally clear skin (genetics, diet, skin care, etc.), but I firmly believe green tea is a high contributing factor for me. You may have heard of people steeping green tea, then placing the tea bags under their eyes. Maybe you’ve also seen the abundance of green tea related skin care products. Green tea is often used in skin care because of It’s ability to reduce inflammation. Inflammation is a big cause for pimples and acne, so drinking green tea (or using green tea products) will act as an anti-inflammatory and may help reduce acne!
Green Tea Can Replace Your Mouth Wash!
Who knew? Studies have shown that the catechins in green tea can kill bacteria and lower your risk of cavities and tooth decay. If you’re interested in natural products, then switching your mouthwash to green tea (or a homemade green tea solution) could be a great option for you.
Green Tea Can Help You Lose Weight!
Something delicious that helps us lose weight 🙂 There have been several studies showing that green tea helps increase metabolic rate. If you’re not so into the idea of actually drinking green tea, It’s fat-burning benefits can be found in green tea extract or supplements as well. On the other hand, I think drinking actual cups of green tea can be extra beneficial as they might help steer you away from unhealthy cravings when you’re not actually hungry.
Green Tea Is An Anti-Aging Drink!
Some studies have shown that signs of aging and wrinkles can be slowed down due to the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties in green tea if you drink it consistently. Plus, after your tea is done steeping, you can use the tea bags or lose leaf tea to make your own skin products!
Green tea makes you beautiful inside and out! In the future, I’ll be talking about different ways you can utilize green tea for beauty related benefits other than by drinking it! P.S. If anyone is interested, my favorite type of green tea is genmaicha! Genmaicha is green tea combined with roasted brown rice. Although it may not be to everyone’s taste, I personally find it incredible! If you’ve never had it before, it may be worth a try!
